Social Isolation

               What is going on? Just last week my whole schedule changed. My mother started staying home and spending the whole day with me. I love it, but I’m not sure what this means for my family. I have also noticed changes in the community during the past week.

Less people are driving past our street and walking around our neighborhood. When I lay out on our 4-season porch and glance across the street at the local gym, the parking lot is empty! It is really eerie! Where has everyone gone? I love to people watch and this is just so strange!

I have noticed my mother trying to stay busy around the house. I follow her around out of curiosity to see what she is up to. Today she decorated the house for Easter. I took some of the Easter eggs off the table when she wasn’t looking and started playing with them around the house.  I can tell she is stressed and upset, so I make sure to give her extra cuddles. Although she stays home, my father, who works in the Public Health field, continues to go to work.

I would suggest that people hangout with their companion pets during this time. We love you and want to see you happy and well. I hope this time passes quickly and that everyone stays safe out there.
